Default type of gas for a modded tb

hey guys i have an 04 tb250 with a hpd pipe, clutch kit, and a k&n airfilter. now my question is that in the winter and when it was cold my quad seemed to a beast. now that it is getting warm it starts to have that glitch in the power band. right now i'm using the lowest octane foe fuel cause of gas but should i switch to the highest?

that would be my guess too...colder temps mean you have to jet richer....so when it warms up...you get the idea..

but since you are still running on the stock compression ratio, keep it with 87 octane

I'm normally not an advocate of wasting money on high octane fuels unless needed, HOWEVER in the case of an air cooled engine, especially a 2 stroke I'd run at least 91+ octane gas. Compression dictates octane requirements, but so does engine heat. The hotter an engine runs the more prone to detonation it is. And since that poor 250 is working it's tail off & building enormous amounts of heat better gas would be a very good idea.

AS long as you dont have a ping run the cheap regular.I ran 87-90 octane in our HPD modded and ported TB for 3 yrs with no problem But it was stock compression.
your bog may be as simple as a dirty air filter or bad plug.If not then drop a jet size.
