I know that there have been many threads posted about this so what is everyone's opinon?
I do alot of riding where there is mud and even more during the winter since in Quebec we have miles of trails lots more then in the summer.
what whould your suggestion be?
I have a sportsman 500 2004.05
Thanks.
I have gone to many stores and each tell me something different want to hear it from people that may have some.
My first choice is 589 with c-series 5 rims.

IMO:
Mudzillas... only good for the mud. I find these to be rough on any other terrain and wear quickly unless you are in mud
589s.. i think these great for any slick situation.. and do well in the mud. The mudlites are modeled of these tires-- your 500 will have enough power to turn any of these tires so the "lite" tire isn't absolutely necessary unless you want to keep top end speed.
C-series 5-- good looking rims
hope this helps

I would recommend Gators, Mudbugs, or Outlaw MST's. It all just depends on what you want to spend. Gators are cheapest, but don't last quite as long, great tire though. Mudbugs are a better compound, the lightest and are a little higher in price. MST's seem to have great reviews, a little higher in price, and weight is close to the others. MST's have been known to have the best ride of the three, and good wet traction. I think I am going with the MST's when I buy. They seem to have better side lugs, which the bugs and Gators lack. They are a little tough to get out of ruts.
I have had 589's and Mudlites. Mudlites aren't that great in mud. 589's seem real good in mud, but on the heavy side. Personally, I stay away from ITP tires and Titan. The lugs separate too easy and they are heavy. Mudzillas are about the heaviest tire out there though, but awesome in the mud.

I have had Titan 589 MT's. Within a few hundred miles they started separating and the lugs looked like they were gonna break off. Some of the smaller ones did.
I have Titan tires on my Telehandler (like a big skid steer) and they are doing the same in about a year and a half. It may be from driving/riding on asphalt, but it shouldn't happen. The 589MT's were good in the mud though.

What about dirt devils and bear claws? How do these compare to the others mentioned? Sorry to butt into the thread but I too am very undecided on tires. I was looking into these aswell as stock but I want a lite tire thats good in mud, pavement, high speed, snow, dirt roads, ect and do not wear fast. Brian

I've got a set of Mudbug's (28" on my Ranger) and they are fantastic. I used them in lots of mud and they really dig in and bite, plus they clear out very well. And they are so light compared to 589's or Mudzillas.

I forgot to add the "bugs" also perform very well on hard pack and don't ride rough on hard surfaces at all. IMO...they are the best all around tires with high mud abilities.

yes, 6 ply and they are in a whole different class than bear claws and dirt devils I beleive. They are mud tires without all the weight.
