Sportsman 450 - Bounces me around like a roller coaster

Timmy Dee.....I really like my ATRs. They had great traction in the snow last winter and I normally ride on gravel roads, rocky trails (both large boulders and skree), and dirt trails with large tree roots and rocks. They hook up great on all of these types of terrain. I'm told they aren't good in mud, but other than muddy trails after it rains, I'm not doing any deep "muddin". The biggest difference I noticed from the stock tires was how much more dirt/snow/rocks/mud these tires throw up. The machine and I get a lot dirtier, so I added a couple homemade fender extensions. They are also really noisy on pavement.

I actually got the bounty hunters from the dealer when I bought the quads. I guess that they are made specific for Polaris and the dealers is the only place to get them. I got the 14" vision rims and the bounty hunters for around $500 a set of 4. I had ITP mudlites on my last quad and they also really improved the ride of it also.

Speedy63 -
Since these tires are bigger and I assume
wider how does that effect turn radius and
speed. Would any of these be more taxing
on the engine/trans too? Never done this before.
Thanks,

Anyone have any suggestions on what to mod for better handling?
It would be nice if my shocks would absorb more and I wasn't
thrown around up to my handle-bars going over every obsticale.
Same as my wife and others riding our Quads. Should I
have bought an Scrambler? ( originally bought my quad
for utility - hunting thing and now we find ourselves
wanting to do more recreational riding.

My first thought is the setting on the rear springs, are they all the way down (soft)? how fast are you hitting these rocks and tree roots? Hitting a tree root at 25mph is way harder than a 10mph, as you know, but that (25) is rough on any thing.

Elka suspension makes replacements which are about 350 for the front and about 850 for the rear. They are pricey but are the best shocks made. They custom make them for your type of riding. A set of radial tires will help you out too.
