All right guys I'm looking into either of the 2x4 scrams, 400 or 500. So if anyone has either tell me about them. I read the review of the 500 2x4 in d.w. and they said it had a speed of over 65 mph, must really haul. Also how well does the 400 respond to mods such as pipeor cluthck kit, nothing to exotic. Odds are I would prolly mod my machine with just add ons like the ones i just mentioned. I'm selling a 250r so I'm oficially retiring fromtrack riding at the old age of 21.lol.I also have a 94 300 trailboss and I just love the smooth auto.

 

The 400 & 500 are very similar performance-wise out of the crate. I think the 500 might put out a hair more power, but is enough heavier to cancel it out.
Once modded, things change drastically. For a few hundred dollars, it becomes a real arm stretcher. I have heard reports of a modded 400 Scrambler keeping up with a stock Banshee in a drag race up till the Shee driver hits high gear. I have yet to see it though. I can tell you the 400 is easy to hop up & several companys make bolt on performance kits for them.

For starters I only got to ride like 4X this summer due to work/school and other things. I'll probably be in school all of this up comming summer as well. I wouldn't say that I'm actively trying to "get rid" of it.

It's always been for sale, for the right price. I also like to have some extra $$$ to build up my truck a bit as well.

I have a 99 sport 400 with a pipe clutch and bored 40 over with a wiesco piston and a reed valve. My friend has a 2000 scrambler 500 and we have raced in drag race and I have come out on top because of the horsepower on the top end and the thorotle response. I like two strokes and like the power that they put out. The 500 is a good machine also but I don't like the four strokes because the power comes on too late. I think that the four strokes are made for a different type of riding. There are soo many things that you can do with the 400 sport and scrambler that I personally would stay with the two stroke. Right now the way that my quad is I can reach speeds of 80 miles an hour or more.

 

Back when I only had a pipe/clutch & airbox mod on, I rode my friends new 500 Scram & was looking down for something wrong becuase it was going so slow out of the hole compaire to the 2 stroke. I expected allot more. I went there to race him but didn't since I didn't think it would even be close. I'm tied w/ my friend mildly modified Banshee & beat the DS in drags but I've added the head/port work now but still run pump gas & dropped 55+lbs so you can do allot w/ the 2 strokes plus it's 4wd.
