I will try to keep this short, I am a tennis pro in so. cal. and I am teaching a girl whose family owns two quads and is not using them, so I said you dont have to pay me you can just apply the money towards one of the quads, so they called me back today and said OK! I am not sure on the year either 99' or 2000' One is a Polars Sportsman 500, the other is a Suzuki Quadmaster 500, they both were purchased at the same time and both have the same hours on them, I know nothing about these two quads, which one is better? More dependable? Handles better? Faster? I guess My question is which one should I take?, I am looking at them tonight so I will know more tonight. Any feed back would help me a lot since I know nothing about these two quads, thanks kk

polaris, hands down, king quads are not very reliable, they are real short, wheel base i mean,i thing you would have better luck with the polaris, the Polaris is much faster than the king quad, rides a lot better,i mean a lot better, more stable on hills, hands down polaris, you won't go wrong..wayout,out............

do you know if it is a Sportsman 500 or a Sportsman 500 H.O.? the H.O. model was introduced 2000.5 and bumped the horsepower up considerably.
with that said, they're basicly the same in speed and handleing. i have no idea but im going to go on a limb and say that that king quad has a solid rear axle, which would put the sportsman at a considerably better quad as far as ride and handleing. reliability is really a tossup between the two, thats a very very solid motor in the polaris, and still a solid motor in the suzi.
its a tossup in my opinion, buy what you'd like to buy.

My buddy has a 2000 red 500 sportsman, and i have never, i mean never seen an atv take as much abuse as that thing has and he hasn't did a darn thing to it but changed the oil and had to replace the starter this last winter. Man, what a wheeler.

Ok I got some more info for you. Spyder6 you are correct, the quadmaster is sra, and the sportsman is irs. They are both 1999's so it is not an HO, but after looking at them I will probably go with the Polaris, it looked like it was in better condition, and as far as power goes this one is for my wife, so it should be plenty of power for her, and I like irs better then sra. Thanks for the help, kk

I still have a 1996 polaris 500 sportsman, and that thing is one solid machine. I went through about every kind of terrain that you can, from deep water up to the headlights, to mud above the tires, and that thing is still chugging along just fine. I love polaris dependability. My wife and I just bought a 2006 sportsman 700 EFI twin about a week ago. Polaris is definately "The way out"!!

What is a fair price for a 1999 sportsman 500 with 361 miles on it?, it has been siting for awhile but the deal is he will tune it up and change all the fluids, and have it inspected, tires look like they are in good shape. thanks, kk
