I changed the belt and it is still doing it. I have to turn it off to shift gears. I just starting doing it. It has 2700 miles on it. Anyone know what to look for? Thanks.

Went through the whole thing. Something is not right with your clutches. Either something is a miss with the drive or driven pulley, or there is an alignment issue. (remote possibility the idle adjustment has something to do w/it) I spent over $400 on clutch parts, shims, motor mounts etc........... took it back to my original dealer, and $40 later, problem resolved. (so far, about 500 miles, so we'll see)
When asked the solution, he said he took it apart, and put back together right !????
Something hapened with my machine around the 400 mile mark, and got to the point you had to shut it off to shift. Just my 2 cents.

Sounds like an alingment issue between the primary and secondary clutches. Could something have shifted. Also what's you idel. I had to drop mine down to 1130 to get things to wrk correctly.

are you idling to high? if so and it's an efi your dealer needs to make the idle adjustment. also if your clutch weights could be to heavy make the clutch ingauge you need to grind off or get new lighter weights for the clutch. I've had this problem with my owen sportsman the dealer doesn't want to tell you this till you comeplain about it. hope this helps.

I was messing around with it tonight and found the idle at 1700. It is not the clutches or belt. I messed with the throtle stop screw and the throtle ajustment and I got it to go to 1150 and the shifting is fine. The problem is that the idle goes up to 1700 and back to 1150. It seams to be running rich. The garage smells like a 2 stroke. I will try injector cleaner and clean the air filter. Maybe replace the fuel filter and check for air leaks. I had enough for tonight.

the throttle idle screw you adjusted was most likely the tps adjustment screw. If you keep having problems you may have to take it to you dealer and have them reset your throttle position sensor the ECM on your efi controls the idle.

what I do to stop that is:

1 knock over a tree hugger [bigger the better, and worth 10 points]

2 edge the ATV up to the prone body to stop it, and when you want to start just gun it and go straight over the top [engage 4WD for best tire mark effects on tree hugger]

KISS

I got it to idle at 1100 by turing the screw on the intake just a little. I cleaned the air filter and tighted the clamps intake the boot. I put a bottle of injecter cleaner. I am not really sure what corrected the problem. It idles low but it doesn't stall and it is easy to shift.
