First thing to do is a coolant pressure test.Must hold at least 10psi or possibly you may have a seeping head gasket. Whether you have a 425 or 500 engine the oil can get by the head gasket into the crank case then to the oil tank. Coolant will stay on top of the oil and could be blown through the breather hose to the air box. Basically the same on the 700/800 also but the coolant would stay in the engine and vented out the back of the valve cover vent into the air box.Pressure test can tell a lot about what's happening.

You can get these at Harbor Freight or just "rent" a good one for just a refundable deposit from most auto houses like O'reillly's,Autozone, etc.
MUST hold at least 10psi.

Depends on how much you plan on working the machine. You'd still have to check the coolant level along with checking the oil for any fuel contamination.
Over time these metal head gasket machines can have coolant seep past and into the engine oil. People have found small patches of coolant at the top of 500 oil tanks, some even have found traces of coolant in the 700/800 engines on the dip stick. If the pressure check holds at 10 psi, this could have happened over a period of time and not worth tearing into an engine for this. Just keep a check on the coolant level and oil. If the engine isn't holding the 10psi,check for external leaks also such as around the water pump housing, hoses or seeping around the head gasket. Also people over look the 13 psi radiator cap. If the rubber looks worn/damaged,you can get these at any auto supply.

Just stop the hose leaking at the radiator(cut a little off if you have to) and do a pressure check and see where you stand.
