when i start out to go some where i hear a howling noise the hole time i am moving

 

how loud is it? When did you get the machine? And have you had any experince with CVT?

 

are you in Low? Low has a whine to it

 

2001 polaris sportsman 500 HO you dont have to listen very hard to here it. it only dose it when you speeding up.

 

what is cvt

 

cvt is the type of transmission it has in it...how long have you had the bike and have you had any others previouse to it?

 

i am the second owner of the bike. i had it for about 3 months.i did not get it from dealer i bought it from an indavidual. i have no exsperiance in the cvt.

 

I have a 2001 500 HO and it howls too especially in low range. My buddy has one too and his howls but not as loud as mine. I found that ear plugs help.

 

CVT for that do not know means: CONSTANT VARIABLE TRANSMISSION. The howling could be tires, tranny, engine, or all. Mine howls too, not bad but yea i got used to it so i am fine with it. Depends on what your on aswell, if your on the road it howls louder due to the tires. Hope this helps, Brian

I was sorta thinkin yeah I drive up the beach and it sounds like a VW on steroids but I park and do some fishing and a few beers and drive back
