How to fix this tank?
#1
I have a tank off of a 1987 Polaris Cyclone, and it has 2 nasty cracks in it, and I would like to know if any of your guys would know how to fix the tank, is there any kind of paste, or sylicone(sp?) type of stuff that may cover this crack, but the one crack is right along a seem so I cant get it plastic welded.

I was thinking about that, but a new tank from bikebandit.com was around $350, and I ma in Canada so it will be more money, and I will have to pay alot fro shipping. I have also looked all over for a used one but havent had no luck, so I thought I would see if there is any type of gasoline proof paste or sylicone before I havr ot try and bid on one on ebay if one comes up.

I was thinking about using JB weld, I know I would have to sand the surface first so it can set good on the tank, but I was wondering if JB weld was gasoline proof, will gas eventually wear down the JB weld?

Like I said, I cant get the side crack plastic welded because it is along a seem, I went to a few body shops and asked about it, and they said the cant plastic weld it. I dont think I will eb able to sauder a piece on iether because it is along a seem, and it would be akward, and it would look sloppy and bad in the end.

i dont know what body shops know about welding plastics on atv's but i guarantee you can weld that tank seam or no seam. i welded my 6 wheel amphibious plastic body myself and its still going strong. the only thing you have to be careful about is overheating the plastic. but if you want to spend 300+ dollars on a new tank rather than learn how to fix plastics on atv yourself it's your money and time.
