With all the information available from the reviews on the Hawkeye, some of which are not so good. Would you still purchase one? Thanks

 

yes but i would have the dealer check the jets in the carb before delivery and make sure there the 07 jets..

 

I bought one last December, no regrets and haven't had any significant problems. Jetting seems to be the major issue which isn't that hard to correct by someone with a little carb knowledge. I installed larger radial tires right away and just rejetted the carb leaner but that's it so far in 500 miles. Ride one if you can to make sure it's what you want, they're no wheelieing power house but the power is adequate for the machine IMO. Some complain of stiff rear suspension but it works well for me, the radials helped a lot with improving the ride quality. For the money I think they're a decent buy as there isn't anything else in that catagory that has the feature's mainly irs and the digital dash for the money.
Just make sure it runs ok before you lay down the cash, the dealers should correcting the jetting issues before they sell them.....

What size and type radials did you put on your Hawkeye? I'm looking to go bigger on mine. TIA!!

BTW, I am about 95% satisfied with my wife's Hawkeye, I'd buy another one just for camp if I had the money.

 

was going to buy one but realized that it was under powered and low ground clearance for what we wanted. nice looking rig though. only has the first yrs normal problems that i've read.

I went with Carlisle ACT's 25/8/12 front and 25/11/12 rear, at the time I couldn't find anything smaller than 25's but it pulls them fine. Now you can get 23's through Polaris (ACT's) so that's another option but I prefer the 8" width on the front so the rim doesn't stick out beyond the tire at the bead. I would go with 10" wide in the rear instead of 11's due to a slight clearance issue/rub at the footwell lip. ITP ATR's might be a better choice although they are a little more expensive but it's definitely a good upgrade....

I was going to get one for my wife.....and 450 SP for me.....BUT I bought two 450's instead....was not much extra in price(ABOUT 6300can for HAWKEYE-7200can for 450)....and I am glad I did now.........caper.........................

 

I have owned many Polaris' and must say I'm not impressed with the hawheye. For the money a Prairie 360 is soooo much more of a machine than the hawkeye. I owned a 360 and am speaking from experience. I love the sportsmans though.

Mini, I'm guessing your question might be directed at me. The tire size is in my previous post and I stayed with the stock rims to retain the stock quad width, I didn't find any aftermarket rims at the time with the same offset as stock but now Polaris offers aluminum rims for the Hawkeye....
