The wife is going to let me get a new quad for her, i need to get a polaris, but i dont know what would be good for her, i was thinking about the trailblazer, but what i really want for myself is the 400 scrambler, that is only 20 pounds heavier than the TB, i know it is faster than she will need, but since it is a polaris with the one brake lever and automatic do you think the 400 is ok for someone new to atving? I have never ridden it and probably wont be able too until i would buy it, she is 5ft1 115 pounds, will it have too much power or be too hard to steer? if she is easy on the throttle will it be an easy ride, i know i could just get the tblazer but i know i would probably ride whatever we get more than her, i have a grizzly and i love it but i want a scrambler to ride with a buddy that has a 400ex and he wont go mudding with me, any input from all of you scrambler owners is appreciated, thanks

Get the 400 if you like it,it will only go as fast as she wants it to go using the thottle. Lots of women putt around on the snowmachine trails on machine capable of doing 100 mph if they wanted to squeeze the gas.

if shes going to put around on it I would recomend you get the 50, cause its a 4-stroke and foul its plugs like the 400 2-stroke will.

I rode with a guy whose girlfriend had a Scrambler 400. She weighed about 100 lbs. soaking wet, and rode it very well. They are very user friendly.

The 500 might even be better, becuase the 4 stroke would be a little easier to go slow on. Lots of low end torque on the 500. But I never underestimate women riders, I ride with a 55 year old that has a 99 400 Xplorer and trust me she can make many men look like begginers. i never heard of a plug fouling problem, I ride with a couple 400's and neither has suffered fouled plugs. Either would make a great machine for her.

I'm only a little bigger than your wife, and when my husband wanted our first atv to be the Scram5004X4, I was scared. That lasted about 5 minutes! I can putt around with my girlfriends or race with the guys. The steering is no problem either. The first few times I rode it, my arms were a bit sore, but that went away once I got used to it. I'd recommend a 4X4 only because if I were to get stuck in a puddle, a atv is too heavy for me to lift out of a sticky situation. It gives me peace of mind if I'm out riding by myself. If you start her out on a lesser quad, it won't be long before she wants more power!!!

scramblerrp,(or whoever else) have you ever tried the 500 two wheel drive , is it any easier to drive than the four wheel drive, i would personally like the two wheel drive, i would think it is just a little sportier, but if i think she could handle the 4wd maybe that would be better in case we cant avoid any mud or water, thanks

I've never had a problem with plugs fouling on my scrambler. As long as you gap them right and the carbs tuned right for the conditions you don't need to worry about foulage.
