Hawkeye Carb Fix

No you don't have to take all that stuff off just to remove the slide, you can remove the rear fuel tank bracket to flex the snorkles easier.... I've done 4 slides and it's worth the effort IMO, it won't be wheelie machine by any means but the response will improve.....

Hey Mickel a jet kit is A Carb reconfigure kit consisting of a Needle and main jet and sometimes a Spring it will make the carb behave different, Most Atvs and Bikes come from the factory running rich or lean ,,rich means to much fuel and not enuff air which makes the engine run cooler,, when its lean its the opposite, it runs hotter but makes more power,in our case with the hawkeye it was runner overly rich and wouldnt make good power on the upper rpms but would be powerful on the lower rpm,,its takes a while to understand it all but give it ten years and you will undestand, Kinda like a Human body Hold your Breath and try to lift some thing its pretty easy ,, But Hold your breath and try to run 100 yards and it aint so easy,,the first is rich condition and the latter is lean.
In the Old days we called a 2 stroke mechanic a tuner,,he would tune the carb according to weather and tempeture, now days its their called techs and they use laptops to change Powerbands.
A jet kit Will make your Engine burn fuel more effeciently and make more power \ Go on google and type in how to tune a CV carb Hawkeye has cv carb (constant Velocity ) is what cv means, the Slide drilling is a easy way to get quicker throttle response ,,it does this by giving the SLide which is like air an gateway that lifts up and down when the engine pulls more vacumn thru the air horn located on the carb and this will raise and lower the slide that the needle is attached to and the needle determines the amount of fuel to let in thru the main jet and turns it into a fine mist and then goes into the Combustion chamber and gets exploded by the spark plug,,, If a Person would Drill the slide , Install Dynojet Kit and a Aftermarket exhaust the little Hawkeye would be Monster and probally have a top end speed of 55 MPH give or take a little on either end.

I have a Dynojet Stage 1 jet kit on my 2006 Hawkeye. It consists of a new needle and a number of main jets to select from. They have you remove the fuel screw plug and readjust the fuel screw to 3-3.5 turns out. You have to remove the carb to install the kit. I have also lowered the float to the minimum recommended height, removed the snorkle, and installed a Thunder Products TPI valve, which is just an adjustable air box opening. I ride at 2,500 foot elevation and installed the 137 main jet from the kit. The engine runs good, starts easy, and has good response. I did spark plug readings at idle, 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 throttle. All were light brown and very consistant so I think I am right on for fuel mix. The Dynojet kit was a good improvement.

I have been reading all the posts for the Hawkeye.
I just bought a 2006 Hawkeye 2x4 and run it in the mountains 3500 - 4500 ft and have not had any issues on carberation. How much performance do you gain on the carb mods
I do have a few questions that someone could help me with.
1. I have a clear hose hooked to nothing on either side coming down the the front frame. Anyone have any idea what it is for?
2.I'm almost ready for my first oil change. Is Polaris PS4 0W50 the only oil you use?
Any available alternatives?
3. Anyone out the in the Phoenix area or even a club in the NW valley and would like to ride the trails?
Contact me.
