Default 450 vs. 800 cooler running

i just spent a long time cleaning our wheelers and look at the wifes and her back (fan side) was completely caked in mud even where the fan is. now how on earth this thing didnt overheat is beyond me. we even stopped in a brook to throw some water in the 2 kaw. bf. 650 &750's radiator and did hers a little. but wow it blew me away this morning when i finshed cleaning it to see how bad it was. now my 800 would have overheater w/ just half of it plugged.

Yes Why does it build-up so much on the back side...(rad)......Is it due to the fact it sucks the air in through the front......caper.......

A 450cc motor doesn't need nearly as much cooling as an 800 twin so that's probably why.

ya i know, more cc's and alot more power equals more heat. just amazed that the 450 wasnt overheated w/ a plug radiator.

Stendori -

With having two (2) 450's I know what
ya mean. My last couple runs thru the mudd
though has been good riding with no overheating.

I am puzzled too, as to why sometimes the overheat
issues with the plugged rad and other time I can mud
and ride all day with NO problem. Others have said
too, it could be a 1/2 and half situation, sometimes
Real Plug problems other half the Sensors?

Don't know?

R'
