Sportsman 500 clutch problems
This is beyond me. About 10% of the time from decelerating from wot, it seems as if the ebs is not engagin and im just freewheeling. It coasts, meanwhile i can here the belt hitting the cover. Then when you go to accelarate again, it bogs down hard, to the point you have to put it in low to get going again. After accelerating in low, stoping and switching back into high it is fine. Belt looks fine to me, npo cuts, tears, burn marks etc.
Anyone have any ideas before i send it out?

take off your belt and take a look at the primary (engine clutch) in the middle is a groved bushing that is the ebs that rides in the groves on the inside on belt. make the belt is still in good shape not damaged or burned up. as far as the secondary, try to pull the sheeves away from eack other like one clock wise and the other counter clock wise there should be a spring like action that closes them back together.

I know this is dumb. But how do u get the belt off. I am used to polaris sleds that u thread in the special screw to spread the secondary. But there isnt one on these??? And im not stong enouygh to turn the sheeves opposite directions to spread it with the belt on there.

if you cant pull the sheeves apart chances are the spring is not broke so more likely it could be the buttons are worn out like 2 many said. you can put the bike in neutral and roll off the belt by rolling it backwards and pulling it off at the same time. either way it sounds like your secondary clutch should come off and be checked.
