400 scrambler 4x4 problem
#1
i have a 1996 400 4x4 atv. the other day i went in the mud and had it in AWD mode. well all four wheels started to spin so i thought i would just back up and take another way. well when i put it in nuetral my AWD light went out. so i thought maybe that is the way it works. well i put it in reverse and still no awd light. so i gave it the gas and sure enough only the 2 rear tires will spin. but once you throw it in drive the awd light comes on and all 4 tires spin. anybody know what the heck the problem would be????? Thanks

Same with my Hawkeye, in reverse the override button has to be pushed for AWD to engage. Had me concerned the first time it happened, then i figured it out lol

ok, i tried the override button and that did it. all 4 wheels spun. how long does it take for the front hubs to kick in? when i put it in reverse all 4 wheels spun right off but then i swicthed to drive and the 2 rear and the front left spun, then finally the front left clicked in. is that normal on these? Thanks

generally it is instant. check this sit out and follow the directions to eliminate the need to push the button. http://www.highlifter.com/forum/3_li...1385581/tm.htm.
just follow the directions pretty simple

Ya i would definatly change the hub fluid if you havn't done that. I think my quart of hub fluid was like 9.99 from the polaris dealer. CHanging the fluid just might solve your problem. Good luck
