Default Mileage question

Hi All, I have a 2002 Sportsman 700. I have never taken it very far, may the longest ride is about 40 miles. I live "up in the mountains" and the trails are sometimes sort of slow - lots os road washouts, rocks, etc. In "normal "trail riding" how much mileage range should I expect? 4 3/4 gallon tank and I think I get about 15 mpg, does this seem about normal? Anyone get more. I have have one person tell me that he can get 120 miles out a a tank of gas.............

Depends on how where you ride I guess. From what I've seen I'd be lucky to see 50-60 miles on a tank. I usually don't push it, so I can tell you exactly how far I can get on a tank.

Default Mileage question

I usally figure that if I'm going the 40 mile "loop" I carry extra gas with me. These guys that are talking 100+ miles, IMHO, are half a bubble off.

Default Mileage question

This is what I've found. When I go for a long ride and the speeds are a consistant 35ish I get about 22-26mpg. When riding slower I've managed to get around 18-20 (going easy on the throttle) When I'm playing around it gets worse.

The most I've put on a tank was 76 miles and I still had about .5 gallons left in the tank. But I've also run out at 55 miles. So I keep a gallon with me at all times.
