Ok I have an 01 Sportsman 400, and my four wheel drive wont work, the speedometer doesnt work, odometer doesnt work, and the light on the 4 wheel drive switch isnt on or the light under the speedo. Ive checked all fuses theyre are good, been lookign at wiring diagram, and cant figure otu what is wrong with this thing? Anyone else ever had the same problem. Thanks a lot

 

chances are the speedo is toast. the newer speedo's run the awd system so when the speedometer stops working so does all the awd parts. not sure on an 01 though.

 

my 2002 SP 500 had that problem it was a dead battery

 

it has a new battery this summer, bc the old one actually crapped out.

Just picked up an 03 400 Sports.. for the girlfriend and it's having a simular problem. Did you figure it out yet? I have an electronic background, maybe i could suggest something if i could have a look at the wire diagrams... anyway of sending them to me?

 

my '99 Xplorer did the same thing, it was the speedo, they run the 4 wheel and everything else, couldn't fine a way to repair it, had to replace

 

I think it's the speedo but that's an expensive test. Test light the wires going in to the speedo and see if there's power.

 

I unpluged my speedo last night and sure enough the 4wd didn't work, however when I measured the to gnd voltage at the clutch connectors and switched the AWD switch I saw 14 volts, however when I measured across the connector I saw nothing till I hooked it back up. That indicates a floating gnd, which makes sense... If I could look at the wire diagram I'm sure we could figure out which pin to ground and make the AWD work....
