scramble 500 or raptor?

I want to explain to my cousin that a scrambler is a much better value than that of raptor....can someone help me!?

It all depends on what type of riding he will be doing...

he will be doing light racing but mostly trail riding.

Come On. These are 2 completely different birds. One is no better than the other. You buy a quad for your needs, not whats the newest fad.

Have your buddy test ride both to see which one meets his needs the best. He has to think about the type of riding he will be doing 90% of the time.

Nobody can have the "perfect" quad.

The Scrambler will be easier to get. Raptors are still in very short supply. Really the two are set up for different types of riding.

If he is a speed freek & wants the fastest stock quad out there go with the Raptor. If he does a lot of technical riding then the scrambler might be a better fit.
