CAN-AM OR POLARIS 500 EFI ??

I wander if the efi on the 500 is the same as the 800 cause my 800 has worked flawless, I love EFI. I don't believe your 500 is junk you just need to get the efi lined out, I think the dealer in Ft, Smith Ark, has the most knowledgeable techs. on EFI, They fixed my VSTROM with no problem. Hope you get it fixed. My cousin ACV2 has been in the shop 90% of it life I know its got to be aggravating.

I have both an '05 HO and '06 EFI. The carb starts faster when warmed up, cold starting the EFI is GREAT !!
Down the trail I can't tell much difference between them, both run sweet.
I think the dealer you buy from makes a huge difference in getting Polaris to respond to problems.
My EFI had a problem where 4 of the battery caps broke off (over tightened at factory) and spilled acid all over. They replaced the battery with a sealed one, and replaced all the parts that were damaged by the acid.

I have no problems with mine.
Hope it stays that way - Have had it over the lights and through the ice.
Wish I had a separate front brake though.

Those symptoms that bigfatguy described are also caused by ignition problems. The dealer may have overlooked something, or there were 2 problems to begin with & they only fixed one.
I've pulled my hair out (back when working for a dealership) trying to find a specific problem when the problem was caused by several different issues, all combined.
Time is money & all mechanics are in a rush. Things will always get missed now & then.

Bigfatguy, a good dealer should be able to fix this problem. There were early problems with the 500 EFI's but this has been well documented and thoroughly discussed on here. The 500 EFI is a great combo. Don't give up yet. There is an answer to your problem. Search around and find a good, reputable dealer with a competant mechanic. Good luck, I hope that you can get this thing turned around.

So far so good with mine, 18 hours and no probs yet. It was stalling sometimes when coming to a stop, but a throttle cable adjustment fixed that. And just got hand and thumb warmers installed and they are the cats a$$ Originally posted by: caperinmuskoka
