If Honda and Yamaha are the one and 2 competitors for Polaris does the mean that Kawasaki is so far ahead of Polaris they don't even bother to compete with them? HaaaaHaaaaa

Uhhhhhhhh........yeah, OK, thats exactly what I meant. <shaking my head>

Polaris doesn't come close to Honda in market share, whether their products are better is a matter of opinion.

But that is what this is supposed to be about. What tangible facts can one come to a conclusion on as to which quads are better at what, right? I applaud Polaris for even having the ***** to come out with something like that. If they get snubbed, f'em. They do lose face in my eyes.

As far as who the competitors are, I rarely here anyone saying Sportsman or Foreman. Very different machines. Grizzly, maybe. Arctic cat, Can-Am mostly. Maybe others.

The bad thing is that Honda is just now feeling any heat because they have a lot of mindless buyers. Not all, but many "ride red" just because and without even looking at anything else. I think that is wrong regaurdless of your brand loyalties. Make them all compete! We will be the benificiaries.

Sorry bro, but I think the mags are a much better forum for this than what Polaris has proposed. As maligned as they are, they are actually RIDING the quads in the real world. Many of the tests Polaris will use(and has used in previous marketing) doesn't always translate the same way when actually using the machine. I look at the tests, then think of a similar situation on the trail. Chances are, an experienced rider is not going to be stranded because they had to push an extra button or flip an extra switch. Some people actually LIKE to have more control over the machine, lol.

Yeah, the mags are always right. And who said anything about hitting a button?

Never said anything about the mags always being right, just that they present a better format for comparison testing. In Polaris marketing, you always hear about how their AWD system is better because you flip one switch and you are locked in, while others have more steps to take to get a locked front diff. That is just an example I was using.

I disagree. While the mags do offer an opinion, they rarely do anything that isn't subjective. While I do agree that some of these tests could be set up to favor the Polaris at least they should have some measure of consistency and repeatability. I didn't say it could not be flawed. I think it would be a great benefit to come up with some standards to measure by. The auto mags do it all the time. I would much rather see it done by a third party which, for all I know Polaris may have hired, though that means they are still paying for it.

Did you read the rules of "The Duel?" While it is machine v machine, there is going to be a huge rider factor. The only riders allowed are the CEO's of each represented company. That is why I view it more and more as a joke. Kind of the same thing as saying lets get all the auto CEO's together to race and test their respective family sedans. Will the best car win, or the best driver? Has anyone in the history of the world bought a motorized vehicle based primarily on how skillful a driver the companies CEO is? At the end of the day, do most people buy a car based on how fast it can stop or how many G's it can pull on the skidpad? Or will price, dealership, warranty coverage, etc. play a bigger factor. The basic premise of the duel is good, but the tables are tipped and there is something rotten in Denmark.

I have not read that much about it. I doubt the people they are trying to influence will either. I am going to say, from my limited understanding, most of the tests will not have much of rider factor, though they may. Nevertheless, it is good marketing. Win or lose.
