Well, as suspected, the piston skirt was shattered! Actually there was no damage done to the cylinder walls what so ever. I was able to clean out the crankcase and all is well in there, con-rod bearings seem ok, and flywheels are also. I'm now in the process of finding the parts to put it all back together. This machine needs alot of TLC.
Thanks again to all who replied to my questions, it made narrowing the problem down a snap! One and a half hours and it was all apart, diognosed, and cleaned up in prep for it's reassembly.
