Default Why Buy A Scrambler 500?

Hello good folks!

I've been researching two Quad's over the last few weeks.

1. 2007 Scrambler 500
2. Yamaha Wolverine 450

So far, I've got about 5 minutes of seat time on the Scramber (in the dealers parking lot) and have only throttled the Wolvy. The Scramber had good throttle response and I didn't feel it with the Wolvy. I like the Wolvy but I have to tell you that the Scrambler looks and feels like a better machine.

If you own a 07 Scrambler, please help me with the following mental battles:
1. The scrambler is heavier than the Wolvy
2. They both have 4x4 but I'm told the Scrambler is a true 4x4
3. Can this bike handle some air time?
4. Is Polaris as durable as Yamaha?
5. Why should I buy this bike?
6. What kind of top speed can one expect on the Scrambler?
7. The Wolvy has better ground clearance.
8. What else should I consider?
9. Understanding the Scrambler is a different machine; however, can the bike hang with Predator, Outlaw, Z400, etc. in the trails?
9. If not a 4x4, what is the best trail bike in your opinion? $6,500 price rangeMost all trail riding, some mud, some snowAwesome Suspension?Etc, Etc, Etc....

Thanks folks! Looking forward to your responses!

Ride Safely!

Default Why Buy A Scrambler 500?

alright..i'll take a shot at answering them

1. the scrambler is 571 pounds whereas the wolverine is 516 pounds..now when it comes to weight, u wont really notice, the scrambler has alot more power and the power to weight ratio makes it a better ride
2. yes the scrambler has true 4X4 and it works wonders
3. yes it can handle some air time..trust me, i ride the **** out of the thing and it's taken a mega beating for 3 solid years by me
4. it's durable as hell! i've had no engine trouble at all, mainly cosmetic things that have been broken or damaged by my actions, like bars, plasic, exhaust, and sprokets..and like i said, thats comming from someone who's ridden the **** out of it
5. you should buy the scrambler over the wolverine because it outrides it in every category, power, suspension, looks, 4x4, and reliability..not to mention it hauls a$$ in the trails and is a blast to ride
6. top speed is said around 65 mph..i'm running 20 inch rear tires and i know mine isnt that fast..but i've heard stock b/t 63 and 67mph out of the box with GPS by other riders..
7. i've never had a ground clearence issue with my scrambler, i'm not a big mudder, i ride ditches, trails, and the MX track once and awhile and it hopp's over logs with a breeze and it's fun at the same time!
8. yes, IT HAS THE MOST COMFORTABLE SEAT EVER! not to mention overall..it's just a better machine, ask anyone and they'll say the same thing unless their a diehard wolverine owner thats too stubborn to admit it lol
9. if you know how to ride, u'll keep up with them, theres good aftermarket parts out too..clutching and exhaust will really open it up and it'll hang w/the 400 sport quads and u wont have a problem keeping up with them..and if your new to the sport your friends will cut you a break..not everyone hauls on the trails..i have friends with 450's and other race quads and we all have a kickass time going at a fun pace that all the quads and riders can maintain
10. i've never ridden one, but i've heard that new Polaris Outlaw KTM powered 525 is supposed to be Sick as hell! theres high expectations about it..as for me, i'm upgrading to a 450 next year mainly because i love to jump and while the scrambler can handle the jumps, it still isnt designed to be jumped like a pure sport is..we will be keeping my scrambler which will then become my brother's..if i purely rode trails tho, i'd be highly interested in the outlaw 525!!

as for the price range, it's worth it..i mean think about it, it's been out for over a decade and it's virtually the same since the day it's been released..it's proven it's reliability!

trail riding it owns

as for the mud..i'm not much of a mud guy, but if it helps..i've never been stuck in the mud!

if it's wet, thick, heavy snow, u wont be flying, but if your in the 3-5 inches range of fresh snow it's a blast, and if you have the momentum u'll be able to blast through the drifts (and i'm from minnesota..so i've taken out in the snow plenty of times)

the front suspension is great, i've only fully bottomed it out once and that was on a 45 foot table that i overcleared and flatlanded! plus with the extra weight the suspension is really smooth and supportive

i hope i've answered all your questions and i've had a awesome 3 years on my scrammy!

good luck with your choice

Hands down I would go with the Srammy....I have rode the 500 and it is awsome..I own the 400 2X4 and it screams but dosn't come close to the low end like the 500. The Scrammy is awsome in the 4X4 area........I have done hill climbs that I swore would kill me!!! Ever since I rod the 500 I have been wanting one cuse my 400 scrammy comes up way short in the fun facter unlike the 500 scrammy. i get stuck in the mud all the time while my buddy on his 500 speeds by me and laffs! Hands down the Scrammy over the Yammy

I had an '04 Sportsman and my son has an '05 Scrammy. I liked the Scrammy so much that I traded my Sportsman for an '06 Scrammy (oh yeah, got an '06 Trail Blazer for the wife too). Does great on the trails in the Black Hills of SD. My buddy has a Predator and I have no problem keeping with him in the woods. No problems with clearance that I didn't have with the Sportsman. Handle air? Ah yeah!! As far as I'm concerned, the Scrambler is the best of both the sport and 4x4 atv world. Get one and I don't think you'll regret it!!! Have fun....

scrammy hands down.

I race a 04 scrambler in a XC Series and it has never let me down. Very reliable machine and its the best of both worlds (sport and utility)

The wolverine is half the fun as the scrambler. You can wheelie a scrammy, the gutless wolverine leaves a lot to be desired. I feel alot more top heavy on the wolverine as well.

Dont get me wrong the wolverine is a good built tough quad, but as mentioned it can touch a scrambler performance wise.
The wolverine is a good 3wd drive mudder too!

Only cuz he's waiting for ya lol

It has less HP and 150lbs more weight, poorer cornering and jumping ability, now be honest, do you really think you're "keeping up" with him?
