Default Trouble with sportsman 450

I am about to look into what is wrong with my sons Sman 450. It acts like the brakes are firmly set and you are trying to throttle up and go any way. We were on the trail yesterday when this occurred and I am just now about to put it up on jacks and see what is going on. Thought I might put up a post and see if any one else had a similar problem. Basically you can rev the motor but the quad acts like the brakes are firmly set and holding the quad back. The belt will slip and start to burn. You can put it in neutral and the quad will move freely but if you put it in gear and give it gas it does not want to move. It is brand new and this was his second ride. We towed it back to the truck. Yes it is under warranty but I would rather fix it my self. Thanks.

not to sound dumb but dont screw w/ it at all. take it back to the dealer for the warr. as if you mess w/ it they will not cover it at all. if you can freely move it while in neutral something in the trans. is messed up maybe stuck betwwen high and low. does it do it as well in reverse? if the breaks were sticking it would do it as well in neutral.
