Default X2

I just bought the 06 X2. I love it but the rear seat rattles! I have been a Polaris fan all of my life, It's a great machine with the exception of the rear seat. Any one have any feed back out there on a remedy? Oh by the way the EBS is fantastic! Just enough to keep me from killing myself on the down hill! I find the X2 cargo box perfect for hauling gas, water, chain saw, groceries, and just about any cargo a cottager may have to fetch; although, I have limited use for the dumping mechanism. When used for cargo the seat doesn't rattle.

I use a Kimpex seat/box when traveling with a passenger (see photos elsewhere in this forum). It gives me plenty of cargo space for my tool kit, first aid kit, pump, tow hitch, rain gear, extra clothing, tire repair kit, rubber boots, propane stove, cooking utensils, pump and an axe. And most importantly, it provides a comfortable seat for my passenger. For general utility use the seat/box combination can be easily removed and the original backrest re-installed in minutes.

As I have commented before, I feel the X2 cargo box and seat were over engineered. Bombardier's approach was to design a comfortable seat, provide sufficient rear rack space behind the passenger, and offer an optional cargo box - too bad Polaris don't offer an X2 version with this set-up.

There are two rattles on the X2, only one of which has a Polaris factory fix. The warranty fix is for the driver's backrest (or, the passenger seat cushion when in 2-up mode). It consists of a palstic bracket to be riveted to the back of the driver's backrest, while the pull loop (to pull the passenger backrest out of the box floor) is replaced by a heavy rubber stretch srtap which latches into the new bracket. It does keep the backrest from flopping around, but it looks like a band-aid for an engineering oversight

The other rattle is the release handle at the top of the driver's backrest. It rattles like crazy! Sounds to me like a rain cap on top of a diesel tractor! There are several things to do to this: some have put a sponge or piece of rubber in the slot to keep it from rattling, and some (like me) have used a small (6"long) bungee cord looped around the handle and attached to the passenger backrest pull hadle on the bed floor to keep the handle from rattling. It's ugly, but it works.

Good luck!

Humm, I have not had any rattles so far, but have not been in 2 up mode very much.
Only 400 some miles so far.

I have the same rattles. I used some black closed cell adhesive weather stripping to keep the release handles on the backrest and the tailgate from rattling.

The 2007 X2's have sliding pins that fasten the drivers backrest into place. Ive seen the new 1's. They offer a candy apple red the looks so sweet i want to trade my 2006 X2 for it. LOL. I have rattles but it doesnt bother me too much. Love the machine. Safe Riding.
