It has been stated by several different dealers in different places on the net that they were led to believe the 2007.5 Predator would have the 510 KTM motor.

Smoke and mirrors???? Maybe but you think about it their engineers have done all the work to convert the 510 KTM engine to put in the Outlaw and done all the R&D for this engine so it would be much easier to transfer the 510 engine into the Predator.

Every manufacturer is introducing a 450. Including KTM themselves working on a 450. I wouldn't think Polaris would directly compete against KTM in the 450 class. This is going to be a very crowded segment. By going with the 510 the only sales you are losing is the MX racing crowd, which is already dominated by Honda and Yamaha. GNCC and other racing circuits do not have the 450 cc limit and having a 510 cc engine that can be ran in stock class has its benefits.

since all we have here is rumors and hearsay. ive heard the 450 will come under ktm and I don't expect it soon, the pred will get a larger motor to go after the raptor ds crowd. polaris while slowly is covering there bases very well.

 

They won't dump the Pred since all the XC racers still want a solid axle quad......

 

ktms quad is suposed to be a full out race ready expensive package, so polaris would only be competing with them if they made a quad on that level as well
