It might just be a connector not fully plugged in, look under the speedo, at the 4wd switch and the harness going to the front diff. I'll check my shop manual.....

Thanks, I'll take a look. Hopefully the dealer can get me in later this week after reopening from the holiday. Where can I obtain a shop manual on the 07 Hawkeye? Thanks for your time.

I ordered the manual through my dealer, I think it was around 40.00 but you'll save that very quickly by doing your own repairs when needed. Diagnosing your light issue should be pretty easy, it involves voltage checks. The speedometer limits the rpm that the 4wd drive will apply when you first turn the switch on, the engine needs to be under 3100 rpm which will prevent damage if someone were spinning the rear tires fast when turning on the 4wd switch. Hopefully you have a simple fix but if it's nothing obvious like a connection then the dealer should be able to track it down....

Yes according to the owners manual this is an added feature that the 06 doesn't have. I'll have to check my 07 but the bulb check when you first turn the key doesn't illuminate a 4wd indicator in the speedo on either the 07 or 06. I'll check mine later and report back.....

Well to update there is no light that I can find, must be a mistake or something coming in the future. I thought it odd there is no indicater that lights up on the initial key on bulb check, all the other segment/indicators light up normally. The manual also states that the speed signal comes from the right front wheel, the sensor is located in the trans above the rear axle, So it appears at this point there isn't a problem...

Sorry about the wild goose chase. I did speak to the dealer and there is NOT an indicator light. The center bulb between neutral and reverse is a dummy light and does not do anything. Only way to be sure is elevate the rear end and give it a little gas to verify it is working when the front wheel turns. I had rode a can am while I was there, so maybe it was the can am that had a light and I was just confused. I had been up all night working the grave yard shift so my mind was not to sharp that morning when i picked up the Hawkeye. While we are talking, can any of you give me your impressions on its performnce. I read alot about the standard tires not doing real good in the mud. Mine is a limited and has the Carlisle 23" ACT tires which have good treat so I'm hoping it does OK. I do not ride extreme mud, but there are some spots where we like to "play" and go through it instead of around it. Also some pretty steep hills that I would not have attempted om my 250 Kawasaki Bayou. Anyway. its going in the shop tomorrow for the warn wench and 52" plow installation for the driveway this winter. I like to think I have a good machine that is going to hold up. Thanks to all of you who responded.

No problem, curiosity got to me to check it out. The owners manual actually does state that there is a 4wd indicator in the speedo but that is not the case.
I wouldn't worry about the tires yet if you have the LE, they are great improvements over the standard Maxxis donuts.....
