OK--here's the dilemna. Christmas Eve '05 (after putting $500 into the 425), the something (transmission?) locked up while my son was driving down the road. The read axel broke in two, sending the wheels, kid and four wheeler into different directions. We just ordered new parts for the 4-wheeler, put them in today. The 4-wheeler drove great for 5 minutes, and then locked totally up again. We are novices at repairing these things, but are learning, thanks to the troubles we've had with this atv. Any help would be appreciated. New transmission? Are there manuals for atv's that help troubleshoot problems? Where is a good source for parts at a good price? Thanks a lot.

 

you can buy the service manual from the dealer wich should help emencly also bikebandit sells part but also has the skematics on there cite for you to look at if you tear into the tranny.

yes i agree check the tranny for low or no oil.this will cause your lock up problem.the 400 tranny and rear end are the same as the 425.

 

was the rear diff oil good? was there any metal in the diff? when you jack it up and put it in neutral and spin the rear tires, what does it do?
