Default scrambler 4x4 problem

i noticed today while plowing snow that my 4x4 doesn't engage in reverse. My override switch seems to be functioning properly when used in forward gear. when used in forward it causes the yellow reverse light to come on. The other odd thing that i think may be related is that when i put the bike into reverse, the nuetral light doesnt go out and when i hit the override button in reverse it doesn't seem to do anything. any ideas what could be the problem?

Most likely the switch on the transmission needs cleaned or replaced.

I noticed the same thing with my magnum. On mine 4x4 will engage if you use the reverse override button, so try that.

if when you put your bike in reverse and the reverse light does not light up then you need to adjust the shifter rods or check and make sure there not bent.if the reverse light does not come on it will not lock in 4x4.if your neutral light is staying on in reverse the shifter rod is not engauging properly.

Default scrambler 4x4 problem

just checked the linkage it seems to be engaging the same as my other machine does. I adjusted the linkage just to make sure the shifter was not hitting on the plastic and now it seems its going in as far as it can. but i still have no reverse light. as for the switch are you guys saying to remove the switch from the transmission and cleaning it or just clean the contacts. to remove the switch it looks like i will have to pull the pipe to get at it. is that correct?
