i was watching the jeff corwin show and he was riding a polaris trail boss on his show thru the destert. good advertisement for polaris.

nope i didnt. have you ever saw the polaris deisle they made years ago. that thing was a monster in the unlimited atv pulling class. theres still a couple around my area that are used for heay work.

 

Polaris had a diesel sportsman in 2000 or 2001. Top speed 35mph.

 

slow as hell but what torque that beast had.

 

I did not know that!! they make it sound like it is a brake-through first leading edge discovery when I read it!!! However Stendori the towing Cap.Is only 1050 lbs. And tops out at about 40 miles/hour. Are S.P.450's have a towing Cap. over 1200 lbs. How do they rate the Towing Cap. of Quads anyway??????I would like to know!!!...Caper....

 

well as we know (or least how i think which is wrong most of the time lol) the power will always out do the traction on the wheel spin because lack of weight of the machine. im sure there is a proper formula for the smart people(not myself for sure) but basicly this is why the polaris diesle was so good because no matter how much weight you put on the that wheeler it would keep on turning the tires form the massive torque. i cant remeber why theu stoped making them though. there was a reason but cant think of it.

 

That's pulling ....When they rate towing ....Is that just with the normal weight of the quad?...Caper......
There is quite a differance between pulling and towing......

 

I read somewhere that alot of the towing limits or ratings are given based on the weight of the towing vehicle and breaks because it has to account for stopping the towed load.

 

i would think the stress factor on the frame and componets with the weight w/ have alot to do w/ what they say it will do b4 it will have breakage problems. dont forget depending on what you have for tires would also play a huge difernce in how much it will pull.
