06 EFI check engine light
#1
Hello everyone-
I was riding my 06 EFI w/ only 162 miles...in Alaska today and the HOT check engine light came on. We have alot of snow here this time of the year and the outside temp was 18 degrees above zero. I was not pushing any snow with the ATV nor was I overworking the ATV. We got about 1.5 miles into our groomed trial and the HOT check engine light appeared. I stopped the machine and started it a few minutes later and it showed the usual rmps eventually turning to HOT check engine light again. This happend numerous times as I was driving back to our starting point. It seemed the ATV would loose power when going up hills and eventually sputtered to out, turing the engine off. I would wait until it would start again and drive until the HOT check engine light came on. This seem to happen numerous times until I eventually reached my vehicle. Anyways I have rode some awesome trails here in Alaska since September and have never had a problem with the ATV. The ATV sits in my heated garage and has not been rode all winter until today. Any ideas what the problem may be? I looked at the antifreeze and oil both were in good condition. I also looked at the front radiator and no snow was present during HOT check engine light periods. Like I said I was not pushing snow and I have never had a problem with the ATV yet. I plan to drop it off at the dealer I bought it from and hopefully they can diagnos the problem from their computer. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!
