(2000 Polaris Scrambler 400 2X4) I found 1 for sale, For my 11 year old son, He has been riding dirtbikes/Go-karts since he was 4-5. I dont really know anything about them. Ive owned many Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kaws, But never a Polaris. Ive always had clutch & Gears.
The guy said the starter button dosnt work you must pull start it? How much for parts? Are these bikes reliable? What can i expect? How much is a good price? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

A 400 Scrambler is not for 11yr olds unles you want to hurt them.Polaris 400s are very very fast and powerful.Almost to the Banshee fast some are faster.
I would recomend a 250 Trailblazer stock they arent impresive but with just a pipe and clutch kit they will run with the 350 Warriors and 300exs.
Dont let the "automatic" make you think slow because if it is dialed in they perform much better than manual clutches.

The 400 has a CVT tranny (belt driven) and yes it can run with stock Banshee with just a pipe and clutch kit add a few more mods and you can get 75+hp out of one.Stock is close to 40hp.
We have had 2 400s and I know for fact they can eat your lunch fast.
My son is 14 and has been riding since he was 6 and the 400 we had was more than he wanted. He was on a modded 250 Trailblazer then sold it to a buddy of mine so my boy could get a Warrior now his 350 Warrior gets spanked by his old 250 TB.
Take my advice on this one.Find a 250 Trailblazer. You can get a nice one for less than $1800 .Call Rick Ritter and get his stage1 kit and you will be better off than with your son on a 400.
Now if you want a screamer for you that ALL your jap riding buddies will put down(until you smoke them bad) get you the 400 and mod it out.
If you do decide to get it be sure to check the counterbalance has no water in it or isnt dry.If either way it is going to cost a bunch to repair.
