Polaris 500 Headlight / Electrical Issue

The first think I would check is the voltage regulator. Hook a volt meter to the battery and rev the engine. If you see more then about 14 volts, the voltage regulator could be bad. Look on this site for other high voltage problems, their have been a few lately.

Stendori, I like my 500, enough power on the trails and easy on gas. It will not win a drag race with the big bores, but I got it to ride not race. I have about 2,600 miles on it now. Always got me back to the truck and even towed a few back over the years.

Depends on what year 500 it is. Older charging systems would start blowing bulbs as the battery would age and become marginal. Could be there?s just a bit of moisture in the housing with the bulb. Water and halogen bulbs are a bad combination.
