outlaw525 vs outlaw 500 (55X?) big bore
#1
They are both high outputting engines
the outlaw 550-something has a Displacement advantage of 40+CC
But the Outlaw 525 is 30lbs lighter
What would win......
-a 300ft drag
-1/8th mile drag
-1/4th mile drag
- tight woods
-moderate woods
-Motocross Time-Trials with 40-60foot jumps
(I know these arent motocross quads but I would like to know which is faster)
is it better to get the stock outlaw 525 for 900CDN$$ more than the outlaw 500
Or to get the outlaw 500 and get a bigbore kit. (550 or 574)

For the price difference between the 2, the 525 is by far the best. Even if you could get the 500 for $1500 less, it would cost that to match the 525. But you would still be 30lbs heavier, no hydraulic clutch, and all the other mods the 525 has over the 500. I can't see the 500 being around for 08.

What is so good about the hydraulic clutch though? The only advantage is that it requires no adjustment (as far as i know)
What are the other mods the 525 has? DOHC? i dont even know how that is an advantage, the honda 450r is a unicam and its amazing
dual caliper brakes? why would anyone need to stop that fast? Its already possible to lock up the wheels with regular brakes.
I'm just curious about why the outlaw 525 is so much better, so far i only see this
- more power
-less weight
-hydro clutch
-dohc
dual caliper brakes or whatever its called

Haven't seen what the differences are in the gear ratio and sprocket set up on the two. But that could make enough difference between winning and losing.

F.Y.I. The 525 is and SOHC engine and its rev limitter is at 10000. it puts out MUCH smoother (and more) power than the fuji motor, which is a DOHC and requires more maintainence, but only reves to 9100.

the 500 is dohc?
isnt dohc nmuch better? the yfz is dohc think
does the 500 REALLY require more maintainance?

I was always told dohc was better though,
some one told me that the 525 was dohc and the 500 was sohc
What is so good about smooth power, wouldnt it be much more fun if you had a nice big arm-yanking hit in power? probly be better for getting the front end up.
What are the numbers on the 525? does it produce higher ones than a ds650?
what are the pros and cons of dohc versus sohc anyway

Smooth power is nice for many things. It can still be arm jerking......just smoothly.....like torquey all the way through the band. Smooth power is also very nice for racing....jumping, etc
Yes the 500 is a dohc.......and is a maintaince hog, if you get into it

With the dual you have the option of adjusting either just the exhaust or just the intake timing without affecting the other. Or you can mix match one certain spec cam with another to acheive exactly what you want. Those are the only two things I can come up with why dual overhead cams may be considered "better". But if you ever have to change the cams it is more costly because you have two.
If you had two identical motors identical in every way except one in single overhead cam and the other is dual overhead cam, you would not see any difference in the way they run.
