Default Cleaning the radiator.

The outside... it would appear there is limited air passage. The garden hose and simple green doesn't seem to do it. Little scared to take the pressure washer to it. What does everyone else do?

Remove it completly from the machine. The back really gets gunked up especially where the fan shroud is against the back of the radiator. Then you can flush it from both sides.

most likey you'll have to use the pressure washer (from a distance) too it to get it clean. if its real bad, dont assume that you can get it good unless you take it out if you have too. just becareful not to bend the fins all up and should be fine.

Try cutting a piece of peforated steel and mounting it infront of the radiator.. Kawasaki does a bad job of protecting them on Prairies..

Guys if the radiator is that clogged and you don't want to hit it with the power washer, simply let is soak in a bucket of water and it will soften the mud.

Good luck, Superintendent

i got news for ya, i tried that appoarch for servel hrs. mine was so bad it didnt even touch it. the pressure washer worked perfect. but i do caution anyone using a high powered washer that damage will occure if you hold it too close or concentrate the water in one place.

Still waiting for someone to make up a trail-side cleaner for a quick fix to get you home when the HOT light comes on...How about one of those "SUPER SOAKER" kids water guns...Do they work on the trail enough to get you back!!!!!....Caper...........They are big to carry though I guess..........

When mine was really mucked up I removed it, let it set in water overnight to soften the muck. Then next day used the pressure washer (wide spray from a distance of course) & compressed air on both sides until I could neither see anything through fins & water was clean that was coming out. When you do soak it either plug the inlet & outlet to not get mud inside of it. Or make sure you flush the inside of it very well. Don't really want the mud circulating through your cooling system. I refilled with fresh coolant also cause the stuff I drained got dirt in it from around the hoses when I removed them.
