Default k&n Question

Replaced my filter in my atv with a new k&n today . Went to give it a test run and i now bog down at 20mph and get no faster. Put the old dirty paper filter back in and runs fine. Whats the problem?

Default k&n Question

I am no expert, but could it be that the K&N allows so much more air flow that you carb is not set up for it. I notice a difference in my idle when I have my k&n in versus my old paper filter. The EFI adjust for it though. I dunno for sure. Just a thought.

Good luck

It's probably got too much oil in it, clean it and re-oil "lightly" and see if it is ok, I've run them for years and this is the only problem I've heard of.

There is an air / fuel screw on them, probably covered with a brass cover, you can drill a small hole in the cover and thread a sheetmetal screw in it and remove the cover, air screw should be 1.5to 1and3/4 turns out, the k&n air filter usually leans them out and you can raise the main needle a notch and cure that.I'll bet the filter has too much oil though.
