Default oil type???

I just changed the oil in my sportsman 700. I put in Castrol syntec blend 10w-40. Manual calls for 0w-40. What's that? Anyway, is 10w-40 ok? Thanks

Default oil type???

I would say yes but next time I would use a Full Synthetic. Some people will say that auto oil is different. Other ATV's the oil also lubes the tranny, clutches etc. On a Polaris that is seperate so I would say that 10W40 automotive oil will be fine. I however stuck with the Polaris 0W40 Full Synthetic.

Default oil type???

Polaris oil is great stuff yes, but why give the stealer, err.... I mean dealer $8/qt. for it?? Mobil 1 also makes a 0-40 which is what I run in my 500 & also in my 4-stroke sled. At the local Wal-Mart Mobil 1 is $5/qt.

Original question, yes 10w-40 is fine.
