Thanks freedom500 ur thought sounds like the most probable, cause the coolant jug is always doing something weather it be hissing or gurgling then all of a sudden everything is boiling over, not to say it could not be any of the previous problems i will for sure check them also all very probable. The rad cap is like brand new though but i guess $hit happens never thought about the spring pressure of the cap though. ill try all of these this weekend.

On my 96, the previous owner had changed the fan motor and put the blade on backwards. It was a nightmare, I tried to find why it was overheating for like 2 months. Had the radiator steam washed, changed thermostat, installed direct fan switch.
It would only overheat at certain times, finally one day, had it apart and voila thought about the freakin fan. Turned it around, problem solved.

There is a ECM reflash for SP 500 EFI. Have your dealer do it. It helped mine from its sputtering problem. Also these EFI systems are extremely sensitve to dust and dirt. You must have a clean filter and prefilter. I am adding another foam prefilter to the opening on the snorkle on mine.
