Default Help....Battery Not Charging

have a 1999 Polaris Sportsman 500, last time I rode the battery was dead so I charged it over night. the next day I went to ride and rode for about 4 hours noticed the speedometer quit working and it started running rough. Got back to camp, shut it down tried to start it and the battery was dead although it started OK with the pull rope. Got it back to the shop, the battery checked out OK, so system is not charging the battery. Any ideas on where to start trouble-shooting??

Thanks in advance

Default Help....Battery Not Charging

check wiring on the front of the bike at regulator there are 4 wires to this box it is behind the metal radiator guard on the left front. these will corode into or check the small wire back at the battery where it goes into a small bag like device along the frame. i have repaired both before with no charging of my battery. hope this helps

Probably the regulator, its in front of the radiator on my 425, it quit charging once and that fixed it, it was like $75 dollars.

Thank all you guys for the help, we seem to have narrowed it down to the CDI system, they don't give those suckers away!!!

Thanks again,

its not the cdi box. its the regulator/receifier if anything that controls the voltage.
