What do you riders think of PAYING to ride the trails??
#1
First off....I know that this is not a Polaris topic.....But It's the Forum I read and reply back on....And hope you people don't mind???
And Polaris Riders do have an important input !!! As well as all other trail users!!!!
Anyway ..Here is what I want to talk about:
One of my local trails I ride on now became a "TRAIL PASS REQUIRED" area this year!!!
One of the reasons is a group took action and now have rights to this trail from April 01 to Nov 30 each year!
Most of the work that I seen done on this trail was done with the aid of snowmobile trail passes which helped with the bridges and falen trees.....
Now atv/motorcycle fees are:
$120.00 season......$35.00 week.........$12.00....Per day.....
Even horseback riding I think is $10.00 per day and
Bicycle is at $5.00 per day for using this trail.......
Walking jogging and hiking are the only free choices when using this trail......
Now ....I will pay the $12.00 per day.....Last year we only used this section about twice........
But the problem is .......it's an old railway bed wich has "NO" skill level needed to ride!!!
I just can't see ATV/motorcycle riders paying the $120.00 fee per season for no challange!!!
What do you guys think about this???? And will it work!!!!
Here in Ontario Canada.....This is the forth trail system that is user pay!!!!
All don't connect.....And are in different areas!!!!!!!
My view.....In Closing......ATV use(off-road in general) is growing so fast that these trail systems are going to be a major target on the actiing county/town/city ,that they will have no choice but to step in and try to capitalize on the sport....and with trying to regulate it!!!!!
Thanks for your time............Caper

We sorta do here in WI as we have to register our machine to ride the trails but that is good across whole state and give acess to like 3500 miles of trail. Persons from other states need to purchase a trail pass to ride them.

I feel for you Caper. That definately would suck to have to pay to ride! But on the other hand, i guess its better than having the trail shut down completely. So yes, i would pay the fee also. And yes, i also think they should use the money for other ATV trails, or modify that one to make it more "interesting".

This trail is shared with hikers, joggers, walkers, horseback riding, bycycle, and even dog sleds and cross country sking in the winter with "snowmobilers'.........That could be dangerous!!!!!!!!...Caper.........

Well by the looks of it, this is getting to be almost as expensive as snowmobiling LOL $120 to ride the Seguin trail and $120 to ride Haliburton trails LOL Maybe I'll be getting out of this sport next LOL Or I just won't buy permits LOL I don't think I've been on the Seguin trail system in like 6 years, so I'm not missing much there LOL and I only ride the outskirts of the Haliburton trails. Now before someone starts to rag on me about not supporting the ATV clubs, I'm going to pass blame too!! LOL CAPER rode the trails without a permit TOO!!!!!! LOL If there is ever a Province wide organization, then yes I'll buy permits and such. The way that I look at it, I do more than enough for the Haliburton trails by removing trees off of the trail and such on my own time, and for the amount that I'm on them, that my idea of a trail permit LOL Oh well if I get sick of ATV enforcement, I'll find another hobby . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Maybe flying or something LOL
