99' Scrambler 500 4x4, Good deal?
#1
Hey guys, I am new to the group and would appreciate some input. I found a SC500 4x4, less than 150hrs they say, red with front and rear aftermarket racks, no other mods, $4200. It is individual owned. Looks very good to me, as a novice. Are there any "buyer bewares" on this model and is this a decent price?
Additionally, if I want to do any mods, what are the "gotta haves" and what are the best trail riding tires to have. I will not be a hang time junkie, but if there are some inexpensive power/performance mods I would sure like to know.
I know that is alot of questions, but I would really appreciate all you guys with the rides to give me some info before I go get it. I am pretty sure at this point but am very open to comment.
Thanks.

That sounds like a great deal to me. I bought my 99 400 scrambler that was used by the owner of the shop for $3900 and he was asking $4200 for it. I know I got a great deal on it. I was going to buy a new 400 but I decided that with the money that I would save I could put a pipe and other stuff on it. And I am glad that I made this choice. That is just my 2 cents worth.

Check and make sure the steering hasn't gone bad. Other than that if it starts right up then you got yourself a good price. Let us know if you go for it.
I got my 98 Scrambler 500 4x4 for $4000 with rear rack, extra sets of Bearclaw and Mudmachine tires with alumninum wheels (Along with the stock tires and rims), hand guards, rear accesory bag, Chassis skid plate, DG front bumper, and he threw in a plug kit. It was in awesome shape cause he barely rode it. Started right up, sounded good, and no BS. I went for it and I'm glad.
Sounds like you got a good deal for a newer bike. You'll love it. You are gonna want an cargo bag for your racks if you wanna carrie stuff worry free. I also think you should get some Bearclaws for that (soon to be) ride of yours. They are the best trail tires in my eyes. Hand guards are nice too.

Well, I got it today. Fired it up and busted some snow drifts. Is it even possible to get this thing stuck?
I am looking at Bearclaws, Bandits, or Sur Trax for trail riding. Not sure yet. Would like to know if anyone rides with the Bandits. Looks like a good all around tread. Do the Bearclaws and Sur Trax wear well?
