A-Arm Bolts-MAKE SURE THEY ARE TIGHT!
#1
My son and his friend were going to go for a ride on sat and about 15 mins into the ride his friend just bumped a tree with the right tire and the front a-arm bolt must have come out on the last ride because the whole tire just swung back until it hit the plastic!
in the process the front drive axle got pulled out of the cv joint as well, and i got to tell you, this is no easy fix on the trail!!
I tried and tried putting the the axle back, but lining up the splines while the machine is balanced on the left wheels and moving it back and forth to line them up is pretty goshdarn tricky! never got it to go in so plan B was to hold the shaft up with a bungee cord so as to keep it from banging around and damaging the splines, but that didnt work either.
Plan C was to hold it, literally, but the twisting was just too much to hold.
We ended up just having to let it hang under the CV Joint protector, and i was lucky enough that i had a bolt to keep the a-arm from swinging out again. It wasnt the right size, smaller, but it was just enough to keep everything together for the 10 mins or so home.
Lesson learned: Lock Tite those a-arm bolts!
