My 98 400 has a Hot Seat pipe and V Force reeds, it seems kinda doggy down bottom, no quick 2 stroke snap, but pulls real hard to the top, are there any tips, are they just like that, I'm thinkin of a Ritter Stage 1 with the flywheel mod, I'm sure that will wake it up, but can I do anything till then?

Do you have it clutched correctly for that pipe?

That pipe needs to have a brown or red/yelow primary spring,S55 or 10AL weights and ethir a HSP white,Aaen blue or HPD violet secondary spring. It needs a high engament to get things working.

yes,the hot seat pipe is not real throttle happy down low but it snap real hard at top i known cuaze i've already ran them kit in the past,it like a tmx 38 or 42 at best, put some shim at the header's pipe to put more low end grunt, but it will decrease the peak hp a little.a flywheel lightening work real well with that pipe, helping to build rpm faster.

I don't know what springs it has, but it seems to engage high, can I use those clutch setups if I do the flywheel lighteneing and porting etc, or do it together.

yes,the hot seat pipe work best with a clutch to match along dialed-in properly,i would suggest to use hpd for the clutch parts, their helix are second to none, and the violet secondary spring is probably the best all around/race spring available for that quad, you can use hot seat weights.
