Default X2 800 or X2 500?

I have recently purchased an '07 Polaris 500 X2. It has the camo paint scheme, 26" PXT's and camo rims. I have added a front bumper, Polaris winch, and side guard bars. This is my first ATV and my wife and I have had a blast on it!

I made the mistake the other day and rode a friend's Sp700 and MAN it's got some power!!!

I am now regretting not getting the X2 800 b/c the power is nice. The 500 is a smooth riding bike and we have a blast on it, but I guess it's the guy in me wanting the biggest baddest thing out there with MORE POWER! *grunt grunt*

Should I try to trade in my bike for the 800, or am I better off with what I have. Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

I rode both the 500 and the 800 before deciding on the 500, which is plenty fast enough for me. The 800 will use more fuel and it's arguably not as proven an engine as the 500.

If you trade, you'll take a bath on it. I'd stick with the 500 myself, but if you think you've got to have the additional power and speed, go for it.

Those are all good points that I have discussed with my wife already and she agrees. The 500 is definately proven, but power is power. I just left the dealership a little while ago and it doesn't seem that it would be in my favor to trade. Thanks for the input.

NK711, the only benefit you'll get with the 800 is top speed with a bit more on takeoff than the 500. The 500, as Guitarpicker said, will get much better mileage. Mine gets about 18-20 depending on conditions. Also, there is plenty of grunt. When a friend's 4wd pickup with open diffs. couldn't pull a 2500lb. chipper up a 60 foot long hill because of traction problems, I tried the X2. In low, 4wd it pulled it up the hill and onto a dirt road where he hooked it up again to his pickup. Would I want to do this too often. No. But the power is plenty if you don't need the extra 10-15 mph.

Well, I would say unless you have money to burn it's a little late to second guess. I would stay with what you have and be happy. Buy your wife something with the money you saved. (just kidding) Spend it on yourself.
