Change all the fluids and ride it again. Usually if there is water in the oil it will show some frothing on the dipstick. Another way to check is to take a drop of oil off the dipstick and put it on a hot stove element. If it jumps and sizzles, water is present or emulsified in the oil. If it just smokes, you're ok.

 

Hmm, well I have had my quads up pretty high in the water and
no issues. That said, I am not proclaiming "POLARIS INFALLIABILITY"!

But I think it depends on the circumstances and the rider too! - IMHO

I tell ya, you all want to see some impressive stuff with our Polaris
machines in the water/MUD, okay check out the triangle boyz vidoes. Yes,
there are a few other brand ATV's there too, but mostly big bore Polaris
Sportsman with huges MUD tires! And check it out it appears that many
of them aren't even snorkeled, still puzzling to me? Unless its all snorkeled
underneath with like spa hose coming up thru the POD tp eliminate the
periscope looking effect? I don't know?

Good thing I'm finding out now. I've only had my polaris for 7 years, and it's made it through it's share of water. None over the racks, it's only a 2wd. So I know the limits. Only been in to just below the fenders. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

Fortunately for me, I'm selling it. To a family member who rode it about two weeks ago and couldn't stop going on about how well it ran and how he couldn't wait to buy it.
