Got my camshaft, rockerarms, piston, rings all installed yesterday. She fired right up and I let it idle for about 20 seconds. But Im lookin for some information on engine break in. How do I bleed the oil and antifreeze? Any suggestions?

 

ive never heard of bleeding the oil. they say how to prime the pump in the manual if thats what you mean. as far as the radaitor goes i just let it run and cycle thru (fan comes on and off) w/ the rad. cap on half way so it cant build any pressure and it purges the air out.

 

okay, I figured there would be air in the oil system since I had it all torn apart and would need to bleed the oil. How do I make sure it is pumping oil? Correct oil pressure?

 

When at idle keep your hand on the oil filter.........If it's getting hot ...then it is flowing!!!...Caper.....

 

how long should I let it idle, dont want to lock up a fresh motor!!!

 

You do have oil in it already...............RIGHT!!...You said you ran it for about 20 seconds......Caper............................This feel the oil filter thing I do after I change the oil on mine ........................I thought you were ready to ride!!!....Caper.........

 

yeah, Ive got the motor full of oil and should be ready to go...fresh motors just make me a little nervous. I have rebuilt my sled plenty of times but this is my first 4 stroke ATV.
