TrailBlazer mod kits - help please
#1
Hello all. I have two '00 Trailblazers (for me & my wife) and I've been reading about this Pipe and clutch kit from people here that you can get for them.
I would like to find out more. Can any of you tell me what it costs and is it hard to install? And where to get it?
I would really like to give my bike a little more pep (since I'm around 205 lbs. I need a little more push).
I've been out of the loop for a while so please be kind and explain what the clutch kit is and does, I think the pipe is self explainitory.
We mainly ride in Brooksville Fla. (Croom Mortorcycle area) it's a great place with 2600 acres of hills trails pits and campgrounds you can ride right to.
Thanks in advance.

Basically, a clutch kit changes the engaugement RPM by the use of springs. Some kits just have a primary and secondary spring, while others have springs, shift weights and a helix. All the kits are fairly easy to install if you have basic mechanical abilities. A kit for the TB will cost between $80-150 depending on who you get it from.
HPD at www.hpd-inc.com
RCR at www.rittercycle.com
Hotseat at www.hotseatperformance.com
Any of the above can help you with a kit that will fit your RIDING STYLE!!!!!!!!!!

One note on the clutch kits for you.
HPD's kit is $80.
HotSeats is $150.
The difference is HotSeats kit includes a new helix and the HPD kit does not. Most post I've read here on the forum agree that the modified helix does not gain you much on the Trail Blazer unless your into drag racing. Even then, it may gain you a tenth of a second or two.
RCR offers a nice kit called the Stage 1 that includes the pipe, carb jets, airbox mod and clutch kit. I believe it is $350. Only drawback I've heard to it is that the clutch kit is only a primary spring. It does not include the secondary or lighter weights.
As far as pipes, the only one I've heard anything negative about is HotSeats. They say they have week welds and blow out easy.
I'll be ordering my clutch and pipe from HPD in the next week or so as soon as my wife gets her bonus from work. It's my late Christmas present.
Just do lots of research and ask lots of questions. And this is a great place to do it.

Thank you all for the information. I will check out the links talonhawk provided. Looks like the HPD is the popular pick here. I'm 40 yrs. old but still like to get on it and do some jumps when I'm not toting around my 3 yr. old on my Trail Blazer.
Junior also has started riding an E-ton Rascal 40, with wood blocks on the floorboards so he can put his feet down. The wife is happy with the stock TB since she's only 5 ft and 105 lbs.
Does the HPD mods require any jetting or airbox mods? if not, what benifits are further gained by that?
