Default oil in 2 stroke carb

I have a 400 express 2 strroke that I use around the house. When I went to use it this spring all the oil had drained out onto my floor. Upon inspection I found the oil is going into my carb then draining into my air filter area. It is putting I would guess 12 or more ounces a day into the filter area. It is doing this when the thing is not running. Does anybody have any suggestions. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it oil injected?
If it is then it sound like some sort of valve is not closing to shut off the oil flow or the meetering system has failed.

My friend had a similar problem with a motorcycle. He simply did not fix it and started to mix his oil in with the gas and just blocked off or disconnected the oil injection system. I had a 2 stroke too, but without the oil injection. I had a plastic baby bottle filled with 2 stoke oil, I carried with me on the motorcycle and when I got gas I knew how many ounces of oil to add. (baby bottle has measuring marks on it).

If I had a 2 stroke now with oil injection I would remove it and throw it away and mix my oil. As long as my engine would run I would know that I was getting oil too.

Sometimes convience and automation just don't last and simplicity seems to get things done every time. I am a firm believer in keeping it simple. I would rather take a little extra time to add oil than to rebuild a melted engine.

Yes it is oil injection and I was thinking of the same thing. The question is what is the ratio of oil to gas is it the normal 50 to 1.

closer to 40 to 1 i think would be enough so as not to foul plugs.

Thanks I will give that a shot. It is not like I use this thing that much. I think the 5 year old gets more rides around the yard than anything.

Don't some Polaris engines inject oil directly to the crank bearings. I believe this is true on some snowmobile engines, so it may not be a simple plug the injection system and go to premix. Check before you do it.

Generally the mixture is 32:1. Start there and adjust it to your riding style.

Thanks guys I will give the mixing a shot. I don't think it could hurt anything because the oil is being injected directly into my carb.

yeah, the oil is injected into the carb and nowhere else, so removing the oil tank wouldnt hurt anything, start with 32:1 or 40:1 and see how it runs. good luck
