Tach Issue
Alright guy's a little help please, I'm feeling pretty dumb. I bought a sunpro II tach and hooked it up as described on here. I put it on the 4 cylinder setting and started the quad and it reads about double, tried other settings and it got better on the 8 cylinder but it is still reading to many rpm's. I have a stock 2004 scrambler 500. Is there a better tach to use, or what am I doing wrong. Thanks guy's.

i wouldnt think you could use a tack w/ the wrong number cyclinders on the tack vs the engine. like a 2 cylinder w/ a 4 cylinder tack. something about the pusle reading have to match. just wondering about it. w/ the xlt being a 3 cylinder and scam. being a 2 does it work catman?

Alright quy's here the scoop, you do need a 6 pulse tach to get the right reading. So after some research I found that a 12 cylinder tach will work, I bought a Stewart Warner competition tach it has setting from 2 to 12 clyinders. Let me tell you it worked great and was able to get my clutch dialed in perfectly.
