Did you check the spark plug gap?
It sounds like it too rich ,did you play with or adjust any of the screws on the carb, Sounds like a carb problem.......As long as your spark is strong and not too weak!!!......................Caper,........ |

if your plug is fouling it must be getting too much gas maybe from the float level off or having dirt in there. when its running it runs good? when you start it up and run it for awhile check the plug to see if its black and fouled looking.

did you try drainging the gas. I had to do that to one of the pred. 90s before we sold it. it was trying to turn over and was getting gas, it just would turn over. pulled the fuel line going to the carb, the gas shutoff and reserve, reconnected, fueled, and walah it started.

I have a 2002 Scrambler 90 for the boys. I bought it from a friend who hadn't run it for years. It did exactly the same thing. The starter turned over but it wouldn't fire. If it has not been run in awhile the gas in the carb evaporates but the oil is left to raise "all kinds of fun" with the carb.
This is what I did to get mine going. 1) buy 3 sets of plugs 2) drain the gas and put new gas with SeaFoam in it. 3) open the airbox and look at the filter. The filter needed to be cleaned . 4) disconnect where the airbox connects to the carb 5) Spray carb with carb cleaner 3-4 times 6) Put a new plug in & put some gas down the cylinder. I blocked the rear end up so once it fired, I ran it for at least 15 minutes. I had to the the gas down the cylinder trick 3-4 times before it took off. I then took that plug out and put another new one in. 7) ran the next 5 tanks of gas with Seafoam in them This may be overkill but it has run flawless since. There is nothing worse than having a sad child sitting on his machine that won't run I hope this helps HondaFinn |
