Hehe. Thats funny. You have to enjoy finding wild animals regardless of size. I ran into a wolf once. No lie. Wasn't scared of me at all. Wolf, moose, elk, lots of deer and bear. I have found them all. Although in all honesty, I never saw the bear. I just smelled/heard him. So I suspect that one but don't know. Needless to say, it was enough to convince me to bring my .45 going forward. Although I don't think that will get the job done. But better than nothing.

I have trails in my backyard that back right up to the powerlines. We have deer, foxes and coyotes that roam the neighborhood. You see carcases of deceased animals on the powerlines. We never see any deer or anything while riding in our backyard or the powerlines, although we don't ride the powerlines anymore, got caught,

The only things that really make me nervous are bear and moose. But in regards to the bear, even a .44 magnum is not going to get the job done quickly. .357 will just **** them off.

I have heard of people shooting a grizzly with a .44 magnum and it will die. But it takes a while. They run off and bleed out. You need a .454 casull or a .50 magnum for those. And the problem with those is you either have a huge gun with like a 8" barrel or a snubbie. And the recoil in a .454 casull or a .50 magnum with a snubbie is going to be punishing for sure. But strangely, I still want one. Looking at the Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan but I think she will kick like a mule. Looks like it in this shot anyway.

I used to have a Ruger Super Redhawk 44 mag, 8 inch barrel with a luepold scope

Thing was awesome I could hit a 10 plate at 100 yards but I couldnt hit a deer to save my life so I sold it. Very big and bulky gun but it is fun. The 44 mag kicks like a frickin mule. I cant imagine any bigger.

If you hit the bear in the right spot, just about anything will kill it - key is the right spot. Pretty much impossible when your geting charged

actually my s&w .357 world down a bear w/ no problem but got it them right. either way you can bet i wouldnt be too close if it didnt do the trick lol. havent seen a bear in yrs on the wheeler. only in certain area i use to ride in(which is now closed off to riding, paper co. land) see any. we actually had a guy who used to hunt bear w/ his magum and had pretty good luck w/ it but there again he was mostly indian and was a very good hunter.

I bought a .454 Tarus and it literally scares the scotts out of me
when I shoot it. Yea Yea I am mucho, right! Seriously its a whole lotta
foot pressure coming outta the barrel. I bought this so I could "pistol"
hunt deer here legally in Maryland. I was debating the .50 cal Desert
Eagle, but I didn't like what I was hearing about the "high maintenance"
and accuracy issues. - Now thinking about it glad I didn't go with the
Desert Eagle, way too much power, just like my .454

As it was a great idea at first, I don't have the same desires to
pistol-deer hunt. I wish I would of just bought a 9mm or .40cal
(Still not legal for hunting here) but it would of been alot more
fun for just shooting and having for home protection.
